Just a Quick Note...

When I was a child my mother made me the best birthday cakes. On my special day, she would bann me from the kitchen while she created my wish and then that evening I would rush through my supper in anticipation of the party to come. Dinner would finish, the lights would dim and suddenly she would present my cake to me all aglow with candles. I felt so special and would spend precious minutes loving the details until it was time to eat it. Which I did, with great enthusiasm I might add.

Is it any wonder how I ended up becoming a cake decorator? Originally, The Perfect Cake was a business I started as an outlet for my creativity, but it has become so much more than that. Every time we deliver a cake and see the excited faces of the children, it becomes more of a calling. Can I get poetic about cake? You bet I can!

Every cake we deliver is baked from scratch. I dont believe in mixes, a cake should be dense and moist and remind you of your grandmother. Ingredients like Dicalcium Phosphate and Aluminum Sulphate dont belong in my cakes; Instead, I use good old fashioned eggs, butter, flour and the ocassional fruit juice. I bake cakes the way my mother taught me, with patience, fresh ingredients and a blue apron with flowers on it.

For every ocassion there is a need for cake and I love carving and shaping them into something really neat. I once delivered a cake where the little girl squealled so loud, and shook her whole body so hard that I almost dropped the cake! Her mother was so pleased; As a parent, you cant do better than to get that reaction from a gift you've given your little one. Believe me, these arent just cakes, they're part of the experience.

If you've never ordered from me before, try one of my simple gourmet cakes. The smallest cake is 8 servings and they all go great with a movie and a glass of cold milk. Would you like to learn how to decorate your own cakes? Check my teaching schedule; I currently teach through the Loblaws Cooking School and travel all over Southwestern Ontario.

I look forward to meeting you.
